Gibbons Fowler is a high profile Canadian criminal law firm based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with experience in complex criminal litigation including such matters as the Air India case and the successful defence of former British Columbia Premier Glen Clark against breach of trust and fraud charges.
The firm's culture embodies a classical devotion to strong advocacy, client service, and legal scholarship combined with a modern and technologically progressive approach to the practice of law. The firm retained Skunkworks to develop an integrated new brand that successfully conveys this unique identity through the creation of a new logo, collateral package, law firm website and legal blog.
Skunkworks began with the development of an understated wordmark logo, capitalizing on the principals' significant name recognition in the British Columbia legal community. The colour palette selected is a rich combination of brown and burgundy hues that ties in with the imagery of the Art Deco Marine Building that houses the firm's offices and is the subject of the visuals used throughout the firm website. The stationary package is printed on heavy, textured stock that adds depth and richness to the materials, and speaks to the firm's commitment to quality. The firm website employs a variety of innovative features including an audio greeting from the firm's senior lawyer, large lawyer bio portraits, and a zoom-able hybrid satellite map on the contact page. The firm blog carries over the look and feel of the website, and gives the firm's lawyers an opportunity to establish an additional point of connection with potential clients and referral sources as well as a forum for communicating recent developments in the law.
